It’s a new week and I’m feeling completely overwhelmed! So my theme for today is one of my favorite mottos: First things first. Back when I was teaching, I would often find myself with a thousand things running around on my to do list. It’s like you finish one thing and have three more to add. I easily get overwhelmed and my natural response is to give up and check out. I am not one of those people who likes to be crazy busy.

But I started telling myself “first things first” when I felt that way. Instead of looking at the entire list, I try to focus on one thing at a time and force myself to prioritize. Slowing down and taking one thing at a time is the only way I can get by! Sometimes things that seemed like a must-do get shuffled around and changed or completely scratched. It’s basically a lesson in patience.

So here’s what I’ll be tackling this week as I diffuse my Stress Away essential oil!

  1. Unpack and settle in. After being gone for a month, I have a mountain of laundry and tons of things that need to be put away. I also need to make our menu for the week. Getting organized is key to my sanity! It’s at the top of the list for a reason.
  2. Work and blog stuff. Since I’ve been gone there are a few things that have come up that I couldn’t do until I got back home to my computer. (I always regret not having a laptop when I’m traveling!) I need to sort through all the items that need attention and get started on some of them. This blog needs a little work, too. I’ve been posting while I was gone, but I wasn’t able to design graphics for my Weekend Inspiration posts so I’m hoping to get those done this week.
  3. Get out of the house. Our Maryland Zoo membership gives us free admission to the B&O Railroad Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Industry for January and February. We also get 50% off at Post Discovery. I’m hoping to take the kids to the B&O Museum one day this week. We also need to make an IKEA run and of course a trip to the library is a must.
