It’s been a tough week. There’s been a range of emotions from anger to disbelief. But for anyone who’s been reading and listening, there’s no surprise about what happened on Tuesday night. Our country has an ugly past of white supremacy and oppression of any group that doesn’t belong. There’s also a history of people in power using marginalized groups as props while providing only surface-level support.

We are in a moment that will determine what happens next. For the past year I’ve heard people say: I can’t until this election is over so we can get back to normal. But I don’t want to go back to normal. We’ve come this far and people have endured too much to go back to pretending. It’s time to stand up for each other.

As homeschoolers, we must first inform ourselves. Teach ourselves so that we may teach our children.

The following is a list of books to get started.

The above books are Amazon affiliate links. All revenue earned from the purchase of books via my links will be matched and donated to the Muslimat Al Nisaa shelter in Baltimore, which provides health, education, shelter and other social services to the underserved population in general, and to Muslim women and children in particular.

I’m certain this list will grow with time. If you have a wonderful book to recommend, please tell me about it in the comments below!
