When we were learning about oceans (last summer!) I had an idea for a project to create a poster displaying the different ocean zones and the animals that live there. We finally did it and I’m so happy with the result!
When we first read about the different layers of the ocean in the Cat in the Hat book, Z was fascinated by the idea of lighter and darker areas of the ocean. We learned about special adaptations like bioluminescence and how some ocean mammals can hold their breath for a very long time.
Creating the poster was simple.
Here’s what we used:
- poster board
- paint (blue, white, black, brown)
- ocean animal printable
I should add that we grabbed a few more images off of Google. He wanted to get an orca, seahorse, sperm whale, dugong, and seal. (I didn’t include them in the free printable because I don’t have license to use them on my blog!)
We hung the finished poster in the kid/guest bathroom. The theme is Ocean, so this fits in nicely.
I have a feeling that we may add more animals on here as time goes on. I had planned to get a poster frame, but I didn’t find one for cheap. Since nobody ever really steams up this bathroom, I think it will be okay.
