Today is Eid al Adha (Festival of Sacrifice), the second of the two yearly holidays for Muslims around the world. This Eid marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and commemorates the prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismiail (Ishmael). We had a nice day filled with food and friends. This year I decided to step up my decorations with a banner, table setting, gift wrap and balloons. I didn’t want to spend too much money, so I started by picking out a color scheme based on a table runner and cloth I already had. I love the texture of the woven table runner and I think the green and teal in it really compliment the gorgeous oranges that are coloring the trees these days.

I made a simple DIY banner from burlap, twine and glittered craft paper. I used extras to embellish the plain glass vase and gift wrap. The biggest hit for Boo-Boo were the balloons. I bought two packs and just let him play with them. You really can’t go wrong with balloons.

Here are a few photos from our day:

This Eid is typically celebrated for three days, so I have a party to attend tomorrow and we may do something Sunday (depending on the looming hurricane). I’ll be back Monday with a post about my finally comfortable shoes. Until then, have a wonderful weekend.
